FAO Adsayer...Discuss.
Remember we spoke about the fan coming on in my 307 when stationery etc, well here is the answer as I have been talking to guy on the Peugeot 307 Forum.

My engine fan comes on now and then. I notice that when it comes on its normally when the car is stationary or driving below 10 mph! Once i get up above 10 mph it goes off. I was told by my peugeot dealer thats its totally normal for it to do this as it helps in the regeneration of the deisel particle filter. Supposedly it stops it from overheating when the car is stationary or driving slowly as the filter is fitted in the engine bay directly below the turbo behind the radiator! It only comes on everytime the filter is regenerated ( about 500 or so miles). Its all to do with the temperatures involved in regenerating the filter! It stays on for 5 mins after pulling up sometimes too.
From what info i can gather about regenerating the filters then it seems my dealers answer is plausible!
Hope this helps

It all depends on what kind of driving you do! If you drive mostly motorway miles then its about 500-600 miles but if you are like me (short journeys of about 20 miles) then the filter tends to clog up quicker hense it regenerating more frequently! I tend to take the car on a blast down a dual carriageway ,when im on them, at 2500-3000 revs at a speed above 55 for more than 10 mins. This is what my dealer said to do every now and then. It seems to trigger a manual regeneration and helps to burn off more soot in the exhaust than what normally would be burnt! This in turn helps to extend the period between regenerations and so the fan comes on less frequently!
This is the advice that my dealer gave me and it seems to work. The only down side is the fan will come on now and then but its just something to get used to i'm afraid! It doesn't really bother me tbh!

All sound OK then to you?
I was very sceptical at first about it all, but I have learnt it's all part of the FAP engines. I'm going to learn a bit more about them I think...

We've just recieved a re-call for the ABS unit letting water in lol... so hopefully they'll fix the dodgy sensor on the rear wheel at the same time lol! To be fair until now its not had a lot of problems and has passed 3 MOT's in a row with no problem...

This is true i work for Renault and the Laguna's/Megane's are the Same (apart from the cooling fan bit) If the car is doing town runs it will clog up quicker. So we have to giv them a run doing over 55mph,.
And yes its to do with the FAP/E4 Engines stupid emmision reg's

They are mate, but most 54 reg onwards are OK and reliable.
