another police search because its a "done up saxo" - Saxperience

well me and my mate was out having a nice cruise through the town when we see a Police car with headlights stopped on the road talking to a audi driver, so we slow down and go pass them, next thing we know the boys are jumping in their focus in a rush and puts their blue lights to pull us over! rather confused both me and my mate gets out asking whats the problem officer. and he goes get back in your car. so we do it. then one cop questions my mate and the other man comes to me. he goes to me theres two reasons:

1. Appearently my exhaust is illegal. (which i bought off a member on sax-p.)
2. Everytime they pull over a done up saxo like mine they find cannabis in the car.

well i wasnt bothered about the 2nd reason coz i had nothing illegal on me so they tell us to get out of the car and both of them search me and my mate... then they goes to search my car.

the first thing the second cop tells to my mate when he opens the door is "i have a keen nose, and i smell cannabis in here"????. me and my mate is like well he must have a damn good nose coz he aint found nothing in the car. so i am feeling brave and questions them about the exhaust.

they reckon its illegal because when citroen sells the car they didnt put that back box in the car. and we are not allowed to do mods like that... second cop says something about the noise and im like i know that but doesnt it have to be under a certain amount of dbs, and he soon shuts up. but the first cop keeps saying that we are not allowed to do mods like that hence its illegal.

well we got off with warning and one of them paper saying that we have been searched and nothing illegal found. so im happy about that. plus they was friendly enough.

what bothers me is that they have to make up rubbish excuses to pull us over when we was just going for a sunday drive.

what do you guys reckon about the exhaust? sorry about the looong essay

eh just a normal stop and seacrch mate its a paint btu atleast they were ok, bull about the exhaust for instance your version of loud oculd be diffrent to what i think is loud, so unless the carry around a proper db meter, they cant say shit, as for a modification we all knows thats crap!

there is no law regarding exhaust dbs as i am aware. and if its the exhaust i sold you then it sohould be fine, it wasnt relatively loud when it was on the car i took it off.

thats bollocks look at some of the exhuasts on cars these days dont worrie, they obviously have nothing better to do.

I was also told this mate but didn't bother saying saying anything as the car has a de-cat on it. Didn't want them to start looking over the whole car. I was asked to take insurance docs to the station. I asked if he wanted mot cert but he then said "No it's ok mate you have a very nice car, i can tell it will pass an mot" Nothing else came of the exhaust.

Isn't 96db the limited. Which is rather loud. So pretty sure your ok.

SubtleVTR: Yes mate, it was the exhaust you sold me. it is what i thought as well its not as loud as the name "cherry Bomb" makes it out to be

but i am very happy with it.

Betty02: No, i was doing 40, the speed limit. and i wasnt even doing more than 2000 revs so no way the exhuast was screaming.

VTRacer: yeh, thats what i thought as well.

if they had just said they would like to search me for drugs i wouldnt mind because the car is looking all stealth like i want it to

i went for MOT the day before and they didnt say anything about the exhaust either.

lol yeh i didnt want to argue them either. none of us are "saints"

Mate i wouldnt worry about it im forever getting stopped the best bit is when you know your stuff and they try to fob you off with illegal mods, love winding them up, game set and match. Jog on Pc Timewaster.

I was once pulled and searched for cannabis, as my eyes were 'bloodshot'. They were slightly red due to it being 1 in the morning, and i was somewhat shattered, just dropping people home. They didn't find anything, shockingly, and were real nice about it!

I have no objection to these 'routine checks' (insert mitchell brothers lyrics here), when they are nice about it.

The one thing that annoys me is when they try and tell you things are 'illegal' when they're quite apparently not. Such as beign told i wasn't allowed ANY tint in the front side windows.

dude they have nothing to do if they pull you again and mention ur exhaust again make sure its same people and gt there number and report them you can get them done for hassling you if you do that they wont bother you again, because its againsta the law to keep pulling you over ......

I got pulled yesterday an all, for my number plates.
French Pressed are illegal so I got fined £30 bar, a warning and being told to change them would of been enough I thought.
I thought he would of noticed my exhaust It's de catted but then again its the Supersprint pea shooter so they never notice at all because it doesnt stand out.

the cops in the cambridge city is alright. because i get pulled over quite alot and they dont even bother with mods... they just asks a few questions and lets me off. its just these guys were on a countryish sort of lane on a sunday and just blatently killing their time.

Yer there fine in my town. its just outside of town I was at a petrol station about 5miles outside and a traffic copper pulled me at the pumps.

but thats stupid i would have reported them for the cannibis part... basicly pulled u over to see if u have cannibis...

thats the thing with having nice cars nowadays. police tend to go out looking for themas they are associated with boy racers. the copper said he could smell weed? probably cus he and his other cop mate had just smoked a big fat one before they pulled you over.lol

Reason 2 doesnt make any sense. They have no grounds to search your car and 'because all done up saxos carry cannibis' is not a good enough reason to search your car.

Are you sure you are telling the story truthfully or are you trying to make it sound a big deal when really it wasn't?? Other than that, the officers searched your car with no real legal consent!
