Default Power Steering

My VTR's been standing for a few months now due to haveing work done and stuff, moved it the other day and the steering felt really really heavy so i checked the p.a.s fluid - plenty in there, bracket was a tiny bit bent so it was at an angle, straightened it out then took it down the road and back next day and it was fine, next day i try it again and it was heavy again?!

could it just be that my power sterring pump is abit knackered?

How much roughly is a new one and tricky to fit?

rep for help/advice of course

First off though have a look at the pipes and check that no air is getting in. The chances are you will need a new pump and as said you can pick one up for around £80-£90. The other option is to maybe get it reconditioned somewhere local to you!

There is also a relay on the pump itself that are common for going try this first although it usually is the pump mate, mine does this to me and its the secound one that i have had on the car its a common fault on them mate there crap top and bottom of it, mine can play up from time to time then it can be fine for weeks on end, until it stops working completely i would just carry on using it and if it goes then get a new pump or try the relay, sometimes hitting the side of the pump itself with a hammer can make it work but nine time out of ten there knackered am afraid mate..
