Default Lasso Help Please!

When I've just neatly gone round the whole of something such as my car and it's took about 10mins - being really careful with the lasso tool and then I accidently click and it lasso's what I don't want to be lasso'd; is there anything I can do to edit the lasso if you get me?! It's bloody frustrating

Clicking undo just loses the whole thing.. Surely theres a way, please?

Here's what I'm referring to:

Was obviously trying to go round the whole top of the pic to lower it but clicked instead by accident and it just joins to the starting point.

Appreciate any help, cheers!

also to edit lassoo you can hold (i think its) either shift alt or ctrl and the little circle by the lassoo pointer will change to a + or a - this allows you to add and delete parts of your selected area

Note: if you are going too slow round an object the lassoo will think you have finished and will just connect the first point to the last point you made. so it helps to be a bit untidier and go quicker then just edit it after

While you're using the lasso tool you can press delete and it will take u back a point but i guess thats not what you're after as you clicked off of it
