Its not stock fitment!

Is it conected to anything? Any pipe work on it? Any pics!

Could be that a prior owner had an extra oil cooler fitted

An oil cooler won't alter the performance, just keep your oil a bit nicer for longer perhaps. Hot oil is bad oil basically. Has it got a cam kit fitted or ever been used for racing? Not sure why else previous owner would have gone to the trouble to get one fitted?
There's some further info on here:

i'm hoping this is an oil cooler, if a previous owner got this thing to rev to 7,600 ish i'm hoping he was cleaver enough to fit an oil cooler to keep it from shafting it's self lol. if it looks like a smaller version of a radiator (a bit bigger than video tape sized) then it could possibly be an oil cooler. If the hose is from said ''cooler'' lead around back of engine to oil filter sandwich plate (adaptor that goes between engine block & oil filter) then that should solve ur question.
Hope this is of help to you.
