Sorry about the wait, I done this car a couple weeks ago, when I done the Vauxhall, but I’ve been doing 15 hour shifts in Edinburgh to get a venue ready for the festival!! So I’ve had no time for sleep let alone working this laptop! But onto my 2nd car of the weekend....
It's my mates 106 Gti. I clean it for him roughly once a week (dependant on the weekends partying

). And every so often I reapply the LSP's to keep it well protected.
The car itself has had quite a few subtle body modifications, but I reckon they look spot on. Performance wise, it's lowered on Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. Has an aftermarket manifold and a straight through de-cat. As well as this it has a BMC induction kit.. All this gives it a really good raspy tone
So onto the detail...
Today was an earlier start, I got up to the warehouse for lunch time and got all the gear set out. Todays original objective was just to give it a good clean, as it's been a couple of weeks now and to re-seal the wheels... But given the fact we had a good bit of time to play with, I got another coat of wax on the paint, and had a quick once over on the engine bay.
How the car stood before...
So, as usual, started with the wheels. As they already have a couple coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant on them, (note the finger mark where the dirt just wipes off the alloys surface

) I went for a weak mix of AS Smart Wheels. Sprayed on, left to dwell for a minute, then agitated using various brushes and then rinsed.
After this I sprayed some De-Greaser in the arches, again left to dwell then agitated using various brushes. This was then pressure washed off.
The car was then foamed using AS Snow Foam and as it sat on the car, I went round all the panel gaps, seals, etc with a brush to remove all the trapped gunk. After this I then pressure washed from the bottom to the top. Allowing the snow foam to dwell for as long as possible without drying.
Then it was onto the usual, Chem Guys Maxi Suds, Two Bucket Method, Two Mitts and Rinse. I had a couple of tar spots that had appeared since last time, so they were removed using AS Tardis.
After this you could see the Red Moose Glaze still holding a lot of gloss into the paint, although the beading had gone pretty flat.
I managed to get all this done in pretty good time, so we decided since we still had a good couple hours to play with, that we would take a wee peak under the bonnet.
The engine wasn't too bad as I've cleaned it up before, just the usual dull plastics, dust, etc. The only real offending item is the rocker covers which I will definitely need to get a metal polish with a much heavier cut to bring back to a level I'm satisfied with.
For now though, degreaser and APC used and agitated with a variety of brushes, then dried using an old MF. Plastics were then dressed using Meguiars. The metal struts and round the edge of the bay were waxed using CG XXX. And the Rocker Cover was done pretty quickly with Megs Metal Polish and fine wire wool.
The car was then given a wipe down with AS Tango before CG XXX wax applied to the paint. The windows were polished inside and out using AG Glass Polish. And the wheels were given another coat of sealant and Rubber Sheen on the tyres.
The car was then given a final wipedown to remove any excess dust.
We decided to again go for some pretty 'arty' Afters. Which I think have worked out pretty well.
Inside the Warehouse -
The lighting inside the warehouse really works to enhance the gloss and the reflections on the paint without being too harsh.
And rolled outside for the final shots -
And onto my favourite shots of the day...
And the money shot
I do apologise about the amount of pictures, got a bit carried away
As always, comments welcome...
Cheers for looking
