Give Me The VTR Action!
Hi guys,
I am currently looking for a VTR but I have a few questions before buying one.
1) What sort of problems/noises should I be looking for when viewing them?
2) When did the 'facelifted' versions come out?
3) Are they pretty cheap to run/maintain? (Ive been quoted the same price on insurance as my current car)
4) What can go wrong?
Sorry for all the questions but I've liked VTR's for a while now and want to get a really good example not a lemon.
Thanks for your time

I'll answer one for you...
4) Everything
If you want a good example, take your time and look for one's with low mileage, they aren't that much to run, can get a decent MPG in it, if you don't rag it.

If you don't want a lemon then look out for full service history, lowish mileage, not too many owners, standard (mods could be covering problems up)
Facelift versions came out 1999/2000 iirc

Firstly, where in Bradford are you?
1) Gearbox noises, Power Steering, Clutch, Suspension etc.
2) V reg, 2000
3) They are pretty cheap tbh!
4) Everything can go wrong, just get a well looked after FSH example.

power steering pumps are very common problems. sometimes all you need to do is give it a hit with a hammer and it'll work again!!
idle control valves get dirty and cause idling problems

I was being serious with everything lol.
Check out the problem/queries section, always stuff going on in there to give you an idea of what knackers up... usually sensors/ICV etc. causing it to rev/idle dodgy. Clutch, gearbox, driveshafts, but if you look after it well, could prevent them problems from happening for a while.

As said.
Idle Control Valves
Coil Pack
Power Steering Pumps
Driveshafts can be a problem
Brakes ain't the best either....so don't think there is something up with them.
Any pictures of the your 306?

Mauritius blue is my fav colour for sax's.
Wouldn't get caught up on the colour too much, if you find one which has been looked after decent, good mileage, FSH etc. you can't go wrong.

I couldn't decide between posi blue or black so I got a posi blue one in the end as black cars are a bit more expensive.
I went for low miles and FSH with a few mods.

Cambelt is usually changed around 60-65k isn't it?
Would opt for one with belt already done, or one with 50k or less...
Also nothing wrong with that 5 door, looks nice imo
