opinions on second hand subaru imprezza!
right, im thinking of selling the saxo, i've been looking for a 1.6 scooby for ages, niow i no a few of you will say its not a real scooby with out a turbo,
but im 18 and a turbo would be riduclous on insurance.
so im looking to get a 1.6 scooby and then make it a sti replica.
the car i have in mind has 120,000 miles, i no this is alot, so what are they like for maintence bills etc,
thanks rob

Expensive to maintain if something goes.
A 1.6 Subaru isnt worth the hassle.
Get a CRX non-vetec.
Easier on the insurance and fast as for a 1.6

Scoobys are not hard to maintain an dont cost alot. I serviced it myself for £52 - full coolant change/oil/sparkys/filters
When i got mine i was expecting it to cost me ALOT on servicing etc an it didnt.
Fair enough they are a bit thursty but nothing major. You dont buy a scooby to worry about fuel consumption lol.
IIRC the 1.6s are fwd. Get yourself on scoobynet mate theyw ill answer all your questions or PM me.
But then again CRX's are lovely cars but you usually need to pay a good bit for them. And alot are rot boxes. My mates CRX is on 198k on teh same engine/gearbox lol it does drink oil but still goes like stink

Connor you must use thie shitist of shitist parts to service
When i owned my scooby the service was done every 6k and the oil itself was 60 for a very decent good quality millers oil and the plugs were not cheap as the were grade 4 ngk r's which run at a low temp
An scooby especially uk ones with drunk juice now matter how slow or fast you drive them
To maintain a scooby is more then you think, just takes some little and daft to make it all go wrong

I get parts cheaper than the norm mate. But still its not that bad.
I find people over exagerate about how much fuel they use etc
They dont drink fuel as bad as everyone makes out unless you drive like a total bellend all the time.
My brothers P1 is a thursty car aswell but again nothing major.... But i suppose people see things differently. As if someone is prepared to pay alot for fuel they wont see it as been bad....
Its more but not ALOT more. Well mine is nothing major anyways an im running with mods aswell
