To get any noticeable gains from a 1.1 engine, you have to put in a lot of £££.

Not really just gives it a bit more sound, but would as cal said, no point bothering with a 1.1 unless you are gunna whack a turbo on it as a couple of people on the forum have.

Lmao if you have the cash get a VTR or VTS, realistically a 1.1 wasn't designed to be fast.

I wouldn't bother. Unless you ain't planning on moving up at all.
Save the cash for a quicker car. Spend the money making the 1.1 toaster better looking.

If you've got the cash opt for a higher spec model / different car. Unless you're going to turbo it, the gains aren't going to be worth it. This is going to turn to another "Drop a vts lump in it" thread btw.
Also less text speak.
They're not useless, but will not do anything to BHP really, will just give you slightly better engine response.

Pretty much, a BMC might add 2-5BHP on a VTR or VTS not sure on a 1.1 but they cost around £180-200

not really, it'll help the engine breath better, but it wont be pulling your foreskin off.

Lol as alex said, if you was to turbo the a 1.1, you would end up with probably the same results as you would if just dropped in a VTS lump for a lot cheaper.

There is a section for engine and performance. MAybe this should have been posted there?
But, in answer to your question, strip it out, better brakes and suspension

ah this old noodle
my 1.1 was pretty quick (for a 1.1) but tbh it was so heavly stripped (and thats abut all you cn do to em tbh) it was just horrid for every day use (allthough i loved it)
had an open filter and a straight through supersprint centre and a piper backbox so was like 5hp above standard if it wasnt fucked (and it was tbh was basically destroying itself from the inside out)
but imo its only worth modding a 1.1 for looks
then you can put the bits off that onto a vtr/s if you get one later on
