Default Rear Beam banging!

When i drive along there is a banging/klonking coming from the beam area. Have had the car on mates ramp briefly to check thats its not exhaust hitting beam. Also chcked that wheels are straight as i hear the arm bearing go. Not this is there any other common faults?

cheers people

rear arb could have come loose, even if its slight it knocks. check the end plates, make sure nuts are tight.

williams did a guide on tightening the rear arb.

thanks button is your friend

give me a shout if you get stuck.

If the bolt is slightly loose either side, dont just tighten it up as it will come loose again and you will snap the bolt.

If there tight dont take the arb plate bolts out.

You might just get away with tightening the arb, if the bolts are loose, take them out, get some thread lock its about £2.50 from a motor shop. Also get another washer then put the bolts back in, you may have to lift one of the trailing arms to line the hole up.

Make sure you use the thread lock, while your at it, mayswel check to see if the arb is tight regardless.

steve as per rules for rep. Please stop requesting thanks in every thread. Its not there to be asked for.

As per question, and stated. The rear arb is what tends to bang about if the bolts are loose. Mine are slightly loose atm and you can hear lots of banging and pinging on even the smoothest of roads.

tighten them sooner than later to stop you fooking the trailing arms.

lol... i only just seen that to be honest lol... done it now lol! right i will give the tightening a go at the weekend see if it solves it. It sounds the same issue Ryan, brand sanking new smooth tarmac and i get bang ting bang bang lol... sounds like a bloody marching band coming down the road ha ha..

So basically putting the socket there is making the arb move back out towards the arm... Is that right?

way i tightend mine.

Remove teh rubber nuts or whatever the fek you call it from passenger side.
Get a washer, get a manifold stud and nut and wind it in, that then tightens it as its pulling teh bar in

I honestly think it will be more like a loose arb plate bolt which is loose.

Has your car ever been in a bump that you no of??

Even if you dont no if it has etc have a look at the boot floor pan, where it joins to the archs, mine had been in a bump and over time the repair had come away and rusted and the boot floor was loose, causing the ream beam to bang VERY loudly!!

Could jst be worth checking as if it fully comes out your car jst well err drops on its arse!

If not could maybe be the rear bushes.....
