Detailing silver paintwork
Hi, I am aware that silver paint generally takes longer to look dirty but also doesn't "shine up" as well as say blue and black.
I've been using AG Shampoo, SRP followed by Meguires Carnuba wax, the results are pretty good.
Can I do any better?

The products you are using are good but you can do better. have a look on cleanyourcar.co.uk
I personally polish mine using a orbital polishing machine and a menzerna polish thats used by top car manufacturers like aston martin
When its polished properly i use a sealant (chemical guys mirror finish) to lock in the polished finish.
And finally i apply a good wax like victoria red wax, normally 2 coats
This really makes the colour pop.

my silver car cleans up ok, i know what you mean about a silver car not looking as shiny as say a car with a base colour, but when a silver car is detailed propely they look wet i think really fresh and new and they look even better at night when the light reflects of them

I've also been looking for the right products to get a slick, wet finish on my Silver VTR and with the help of the guys and gals from Sax-P I use the following..
Megs Gold Class Shampoo then thoroughly dry with a Ultra Plush Miracle Dryer from cleanyourcar.co.uk
Once dried I apply ClearKote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze Wax working on one panel at a time allowing it to haze slightly then buff off with a decent microfibre. Once done I then apply my favourite wax which is Zymol Creame Wax. It might be £50 a tub but a little goes a long way and it's fantastic stuff. I did mine 3 months ago so all I do at the moment is wash with the megs shampoo then dry and the water still beads when it rains. The paintwork still has a good deep finish to it....
Hope this helps

to get a better finish overal your gonna need to machine polish it
then other finishes to try are, clearcote moose glaze either finished with clearcote wax or victoria wax on top
when i had my silver. i think it looked best with megs 7 (glaze) and p21s wax on. though wax doesnt last long but is so easy to apply

It's the same with my paintwork, light colours are very difficult to shine, machine polishing helped lift the dullness from my paint and produce a defect free finish, for silver cars or any other light colours go for this kit http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...t-protect.html you may ask me why i choose this kit over the Dodo Juice wax's or any other wax or sealent, it's simple it produces the best shine my car has ever seen, my car looks so wet and glossy, virtually looks like a mirror, if you want your car to be shiny you have to buy this kit and machine polish your car to get the ultimate in finishes, also Dodo juice lime prime is great for bringing the wow factor back to your paint. I know from experience how hard it is to shine a light colour car.

when i had my silver vts i used the clearcote stuff that bullit is talking about, easy to apply by hand and seemed to produce pretty good results, very reasobably priced too.

silver will shine as much as any other car. it just wont look as deep until you get close up.
Last year when i was at cloud's we used some Black Fire polish and some Dodo Juice and the shie was immense.
This year before FCS i used a mixture of PoorBoys, Chemical Guys and Menenza and the shine again was mint.

no need to go mad on the cleaning. Just get a clay bar out and ensure the surface is perfect then build up the layers of wax
