Lightbulb VTS cutting out? wet weather? Help..?

Just went out for a drive or tried to and the engine cut out 5 times in a row without trying to drive anywhere...? its really wet outside, dunno if this makes any difference

I had to keep the revs up at about 1500rpm round the back of my house (which im sure the neighbours appreciated) and then drive down the road in 1st gear and not stop for a bit, it didnt stall when driving but it sounded like it wanted to when i dis engaged the clutch, falls to approx 500rpm then picks up again?

Been reading threads and the stickys but nothing suggested what it might be?

Im guessing fuel filter, coil pack, spark plugs, ht leads, Lambda sensor or just good old english weather is the problem?

And suggestions on which of the above it might be would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Lippy
