Default Rad Fan Help!!

On the newer VTR's and VTS' the fan is just behind the bumper. On my vtr its right next to the manifold. When i put my 16v lump in, can i just mount my existing fan behind my bumber like on the newer models? Or are the fans different? I noticed that the holes are there but im unsure if it will work. Cheers guys.
