Good evening my sax-p'ers
Right heres the plot...
Since leaving school i always wanted to be a sparky, I came across a job been an IT techie with good money so i took that. Been doing it for well over a year now and it isnt for me. I need to be out doing things on site away from the office life. its how i am. Thing is i dont want to take a massive dip in money like i would if i went to be an apprentice (sp).
Been to see a friend who does electrics and hes going to do a course next year for 6 month at night school so he can get into a better job within the trade. Once you have done that you can keep sitting exams etc etc to gain pay and become fully qualified.
So he said "why dont you come with me, and once its complete leave your job and we can start subbying for work"
So i guna go do this, is they anyone in the trade with any advise or know what hes on about?
Also would like to know what people think..... should i do it or not (the career move that is)
I have just turned 19 so still quite young.
Cheers

Iam a sparky (not qualified tho) & i wouldnt swap jobs for anything, its fun, your never stook in the same place, your always all over, i work for my dad & have done ever since i left school, he's taught me all the basics i need to know, however i am thinking of going to night school as iam only on £5 an hour & still live with my parents.
I'd say go for it, office & factory work is so boring, your almost doing the same thing day in day out in the same place, me & my dad go all over the country, we also do maintenence is slaughter houses, so we're never stook for work.

Go for it dude, im a general contractor and believe me theres shit loads of money to be made in electrics. If u ask me becoming a sparky now is a good plan cus all the kids have heard theres money to be made in plumbing and are all going for that, its going to be a generation of plumbers i feel.... People will pay good money for a sparky!
