floppy gear stick
i've noticed recently that my gear stick is quite slack. How much are new gear linkages and is there anything else to check? Cheers

Could also be a problem with the selector arm on the box itself, flapping side to side. Try replacing the small pin that retains it to the rod (£1 or so from Citroen) before you splash out on new links. Sorted

If the gearstick is able to move slightly from left to right then Orange is correct. I dont think that uprated gear linkages will solve the issue.
Being truthful when I changed from standrd gearlinkages to the uprated rose jointed ones I wasnt really wowed by the results.

Ah nice one. I will certainly try that 1st then. Where abouts will i find it? is it easy to do?
The other thing i've heard is the griffiths QS thing that can be fitted. I dont know if its worth while considering for normal driving?

This was exactly the problem with my old g.box. Get it replaced, you'll hopefully be pleasantly surprised!
Take airbox and battery off or get at from underneath, maybe combination of the two with the gearbox still on the car. Grab a hammer and suitable sized punch (or small bolt ) you're away!

Yes mate, have fun! Get access to it, pop off the link and give it a wiggle side to side. Should be solid (like very little play) until you put some beef into it L>R and that is same as you moving gearstick side to side.

I had a look at my gear links tonight while i did an oil change. I've noticed that the longest linkage moves really freely, not so much it unclips. The main selector bit that coumes out of the gearbox with the pin in, moves alot but i don tthink its in the way you mean. there seems to be alot of play if i pull it and push it, but side to side there doesn't seem much play. i dunno what it might be/
TBH from looking, most of it seems to be from the big main ball joint and the shaft from the gear stick. Any suggestions?
