Law on number plate location
What are the laws on number plate location. Can i remove the front number plate and put in my windscreen like many do? Is this legal as long as it is clear to see or is it frowned upon by the law? Cant be bothered to get pulled for it if i do.

think putting it in the window screen can only be a temporary measure, but it can go any where on the front of the car as long as its visible

put it in the front, see if you get pulled, first time you do, say its temporary then fix it, try your luck first though

it has to be fixed to the car (in a permenant way) at a point further forward than your front wheels. and is supposed to be central on the vehicle (some vehicles are exempt from this, alfa's before certain age etc) and in full veiw. the rear has to be fitted in the same manor and has to have number plate lights. chances are if its to one side etc you wont get pulled for it but some police officers tend to have nothing better to do. they tried to fine my brother for having his plate in his wiindscreen even though he told them it had just fell off. and a few of my m8s have had £60 fines after driving past camera vans with plates in there window. not worth the risk imo.
