perspex windows
hi
at the moment ive stripped all that i can outta my vtr (apart from the dash) to make it lighter, next step is to get rid of the sunroof which weighs a tonne also to take the 2 rear windows out and replace them with perspex...
does anybody know if come MOT time it will pass/fail due to the windows not being glass?
cheers

The only window that needs to be glass is the windscreen all the other windows can be polycarb and still pass a MOT

yeah i guess it would give a burglar much easier access in but im sure they wont go knock on windows to determine which is glass and which is perspex, but yeah ur rite, piss easy to break into!!

I don't think a stripped VTR with plastic windows is high on the list for car thieves to be honest and if they wanted to steal the car they will no matter if the windows are glass or plastic.

TBH, breaking a plastic window is no harder than smashing a glass one, unless the perspex is just bolted/screwed into the frame.
Should have no problems if the windows are bonded/riveted in or if you are using the standard mounting points

probably harder to smash in a way. glass will just shatter to pieces, perspex won't shatter with one hit. especially if you have a clear sticky back plastic (the thick stuff) on them

Like someone says they are polycarbonate not perspex, poly is used for blast shields, some bullet shields and such like so it wont brake that easy
