Car loosing water and temp light on
Yesterday i was driving home and the red temp gauge came on. i checked my water this morning and it was empty only topped it up last week. Hour after filling it up most of the water had disappeared again have done this a few times now today. My fan will kick in when driving and then it kicks in when engine turned off for about 5 mins. The temperature needle keeps going up and down not reaching the red though. The red light will be on even before i turn the ignition. Please could any one give me any ideas what this could be.

fill it up, leave it over night... if its gone in the morning, you have a leak.
if its still there, then mechanical side of things.
have you checked your oil cap for white stuff ?
a cracked gasket can cause loss of water, but thats an extreme.
sax's are generally easy to fix if something is wrong so dont go worrying.

Check for 'mayo' in your expansion tank, if its white/brown/creamy then its 90% you have a blown headgasket as oil and water will be mixing.

If none of the above help you out, then also check your rad cap, there should be a rubber seal on it. If thats missing or broken, or not seated properly then it will piss water out there as quick as what youve said. Its works on the compression of the spring cap, if the cap aint there, then all the compression is lost through a small hole there and will leak everywhere.
If your rad has a leak as said above its worth trying some rad seal, i had a ;ealy rad, was quite bad, used this and it sealed it perfectly.

Just ask a motor factors, or go to your local garage and ask them to order one in for you.
If the water has gone over night without driving then your rad has a leak. Get some rad seal, a new rad cap with rubber seal, top your rad up with water, pour a load of rad seal in, cap on and drive ya car but take a jerry can of water with ya or sumthing.
