Default steering wheel taking all the strain ?

When my car goes over a hole in the road it judders and pushes the steering wheel the way the wheels are turned? anyone know what could be wrong?

Nothing wrong, you turn the wheel it alters angle of road wheels - same thing happens in reverse. They are mechanically linked.

If you are feeling clunking, knocking etc get it checked for safety sake.

i take it your powersteering is still working as this tends to be more noticable on cars without power steering

Does it feel like when you go over a pot hole it doesnt stop bouncing? Like it it judders rapidly for a second or so? If so then it sounds like your damper is knackered.

Is it both sides that are doing it?

What profile tyres do you have on?

Is the suspension uprated do you know or is it standard?

Can you hear any knocking or anything?

It could be (as someone said earlier) just a case of your steering is being pulled a little when you go over a bump which is what you can expect.
