Was speaking with a friend who does it, sounds like something i would like.

Any tips / Views on this?
I am 6ft 4, 13 stone and my arm reach is pretty long. Are these good or bad things?

I do Muay Thai and that is a fantastic sport to get into.
You cover most boxing things in this aswell as doing knees, elbows, kicks and clinch work.

It is fantastic. Have only been doing it for a few months but absolutely love it.
It is alot more technical than I imagined but is fun to learn and a good work out at the same time.
It is kind of the complete 'martial art'.

Muay Thai - i have done that also but stopped cos that and the gym together was costing alot. Muay thai is sweet. you use your full body, arms, legs knees elbows etc. knocks shit out of you when you first go, i couldnt lift my arms up after going for the first few times. its mint for your abs too. do alot of abwork to strengthen your core.
Give this a try mate - im going to start agin soon i think *)

Yeah there are weight classes in Muay Thai the same as Boxing.
My aim is to start doing BJJ or some sort of ground work and do MMA fighting.

I'd recommend doing UFC 'type', i fight fot ZT fight skool in brighton which does all fight such as boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, muay thai everything, its basicly a MMA training club, Sol gilbert who is a professional fighter owns and runs it and its absolutely excellent.
At the end of the day any fighting sport is a plus in your life as you will start to develop a whole different sence of discipline and respect.

may work for you though you should be quicker and you'll have a bigger reach with punches and kicks plus your knee would be brutal as it would probably be head height lol

tbh, you might think that you are in decent shape now but you more than likely arent. so you can expect to lose a bit of weight once you start properly training. add that to the fact you will be cutting weight before a fight and you most definately arent a LHW.
in regards to having a long reach, you have to adapt your style of boxing to suit your frame. in short, longer reaches are most effective behind a long jab, keeping opponant at distance and picking them off. Shorter reaches can create more powerfull hooks and uppercuts and are more effective at fighting on the inside. Think Lewis Vs Tyson, kind of
