Unhappy VTS clocks

Hi i have recently brought a citroen saxo vts and someone had cut the drive sensor connecter off, when the car is running the rev counter is alright but the speedo keeps going all over the show, so i have been down the scrappy got a speed connecter and put it back onto the wires clipped it in started the engine rev counter fine but now the speedo moves up and down with the rev counter even though your not moving

Any ideas peeps????

it sounds like you got high idling problems and its very commons with saxo's and ive got a vts and it wants to stall every time at traffic lights. it could be ICV (idle control valve) lamda sensor, map sensor, air intake or throttle body but i tool mine to a tuner and it still didnt fix the problem.

Hi ya dont think its the idling as when the engine is running it revs just under 1 but when you rev the car the speedo moves with the rev counter lol

What about when you actually moving?... try driving it down the road and putting it in nuetral... if the speedo still just copies the revs then it sounds like a dodgy wiring job lol... or maybe a short somerwere?

sounds like the spedo is running off the rev counter wires rather than the spedo ones i know thats no help but if you have a haynes manual trace the spedo wires and numbers properly
