Cooling fan
I had a bit of a bang in my saxo a few weeks back, and although there was no damage to any of the front body work, i noticed the other day whilst crawling through town that the cooling fan was really noisy. When i looked under the bonnet all of the casing was cracked so the fan had been hitting it and it had been rubbing against the radiator.
I've taken the fan out (easy job, 2 screws and just disconnecting the wires.) I've just tied the wires up with wire to hold them tight out of the way. Obviously the car is better with the fan but recently i've not noticed it coming on so do i need to rush to get another one fitted? Planning on calling a few scrapyards when i get a chance, are they the best place to go?

I'm a bit confused. You say that you have removed the fan assembly and yet you have noticed it coming on!!!! Even so it is best to get a fan assembly as soon as possible as you 'crawl through the town', this is when the engine temperature will rise and without a fan to cool the engine down certain damage and expense will result in your engine.
Getting a second hand fan assembly from the scrapyard is fine providing the fan assembly is serviceable and it will save you a lot of money.

If the fan was coming on, then it was for a reason, and the reason won't go away by removing the fan!!!!. Best to get the fan fitted asap before you do some terminal damage to your engine.
