Hi all

I bought a JVC KD-AVX1 you know the one with the screen on it to watch dvds. Well, Spent ages trying to get it in the car and when I turned it on the screen folded out and caught the dashboard under the hazard button! So I cant eject any cds!

Theres nothing I can do to make it fit other then to modify the dash board but thats not really a option. It cost me £400!!! Now its no good to me! The only way I can use it is to have the whole unit hanging out a few inches. It looks stupid! Beware! I have complained to JVC because no where it says that the unit dont fit in a saxo! Doubt they will/can do anything about it though.

you could always go to a scrappy get another centre console get some fibre glass and have a go at modding your own?

you can get a facia that will through the unit forward about 5 mm so the cage is still locked but it is just pushed forward a bit.

cheers, I will look into another facia, not sure if 5mm is enough but worth a try. All else fails going to the scrappy and having a play is a good idea, thanks.

I any one knows of anyone here that has this stereo in their saxo it would be great if you could pass them on! I said to JVC that I had a saxo and its quite a popular car so they may come up with an idea but until they reply who knows lol

Thanks

Take out the centre vent section and rear funnel section. Hot melt in a rectangle section of plastic to block off the blowers. Make a blanking plate front to fit the Headunit into it. Your old Head unit space can be filled with a Renault Laguna Pocket.

And the metal sleeve the radio locks into is all the way in and the pins bent round to hold it in place? I really dont understand. Im going to take it out later and see if theres anything behind it, pushing it up.

Thanks for your help. Im getting a bid worried though as you could imagine £400 for a stereo I cant use at them moment is killing me! lol

Cheers

Right, You know the peg you screw in the back with the rubber bit on it. Its meant to sit in a hole behind the unit in the dashboard. All i done was wedge it above the whole so the stereo leans slightly forward. Its barely noticable. It come very close to hit the dashboard but im going to keep an eye on it. The only thing I cant do is set the angle to "4" but thats too much anyway. So hope fully thats it!!! Thanks for your help! Just got to get the sunvisor screens in now.

Well JVC dont want to know. I only asked them if they had any ideas on what I could do to fix it and that I wasnt happy with it. They said because I never got Halfords to fit the unit its not JVC's fault. As for halfords I made the mistake of buying the unit about a month before fitting it into the car. I havnt asked to take it back yet. Not sure 100% what they would say.

Thing is I like the unit alot and if i can live with it i would rather keep it. Even though it has a complete lack of features!

have you tried to see if it fits with out the rubber screw in thing on the back, i think for certain headunit on certain cars you have to not fit it, worth a try mate
