Crazy low insurance for 17 year olds!
For Rover/Austin Mini's
This has nothing to do with Saxo's as such just classic cars over 15 years old (so could include 205's)
My brother passed his test last week.
He's been looking at cars to get and he's getting priced out of everything, Corsa's, Clio's name whatever want nearly £4,000!
So he started looking at Mini's (old ones).
Even for 998cc ones he was getting quotes of £3,500.
He stumbled accross a specialst company that can insure him Third Party fire & theft him main driver on a Mini 998cc for £600 at 17!
He can get insured on a 1275cc for £800.
I find this staggering!
The only rules is you have to be a member of a classic car club, so my brother is going to join the Mini club, when he gets back from Sixth form I'll find out the company for those interested.

Yeah It's called Footman James, weird name I know, here is the link:
http://www.footmanjames.co.uk
On the site it says you have to be over 25 but don't worry It is a type error, we have rang up and they insure 17 year olds.
Oh and they also do fully comp.

On my mini I got an excellent deal with footman James through an underwriter called equity red star.
For 19, 1 years ncb it came to £900 fully comp with the following;
Full uk and Ireland breakdown cover
£150 excess
6000 miles per annum
Legal, personal injury and courtesy car
£2500 agreed value
£500 stereo equipment cover
All round window cover
And the following mods;
Dtm stainless system
Alloys
K&n kit
Buckets
Full racing harnesses
Rally lamps
Etc
Not only that you get an old British classic! That is until some stupid bint in a volvo v40 plows into the back of you

No problem mate, just hope getting more interest doesn't put the premium up for my brother

That's pretty good.
Mini's are cool cars but I won't be swapping my Saxo for one.
Said to my brother I'd buy one as a project and stick a B16 or a B18 in one.
Would be a weapon.

As said mate these are both type errors.
If you ring up they say different.

What are your circumstance?
Previous convictions etc?
My brother found it hard to make a quote over £1200.

Thats for an insurance policy under them, however they will broker you to an underwriter so you are effectivly insured by them but they will not take the loss if you smash
Its the wonderful world of insurance

Untill you have a claim with them, I've had a non fault claim and it has been herrendous! You get passed from person to person and company to company. It did my head in, it caused as much stress as the sodding accident! But they are by far the best prices for classics
