Weird battery +/- terminals
Hey there, I've got a sound system I'm trying to fit into my new saxo and I've got as far as connecting the power cable to the battery (Meaning I've done all the inside wiring) but the + terminal is far too big to allow the ring connector over it. I've tried bodging it on, but that causes the alarm to go off when I try and start her.
Anyone had this happen before? Will I have to buy a new battery to make it work?
Thanks.

See if the O ring will fit under that 10mm nut.
If not just cut the O ring off and wrap the bare cable round the thread and do the nut up again.
Hopefully job done

Well I've just tried it (Came to the end of my tether, I have a spare power cable anyway) and once again, the car alarm went off when I tried to start her. It went off 3 times in fact. Neighbours, not happy.
I'll stick a picture up of the battery, hang on.

sounds to me like the power is being drawn the wrong side of the alarm/alarm siren and as such when power is being sent to the amp it is going through the siren

Well I've not even connected the amp yet, thats sitting in my garage. This is just with the cable on the battery!
And its the fac. fitted alarm system, it has gone off a few times randomly since I got the car (Like in the work car park, and in the halfords car park *cringe*) but its not been bad. I'm thinking new battery might be the best way forward tbh.

Well, when I first tried to disconnect the negative terminal the alarm went off too, so I just left it and was very careful. I just thought with a new battery, I could just attach it using the ring connector, as I had on my old car.

Well actually, it was touching the other end of the earth. Which is attached to the chassis.

potentially, but even if it wasn't the cause its still a Darwin award level of intelligence, try connecting up the amp fully and then seeing if the alarm goes off
