anybody know this?
ok-i was woundering if the gearboxez on 1999 models and 2000+ are the same for the saxo?
i have read lots to say that it is,so if i put in a gear box from a vtr/s in to a furio then a turbo,it would get up to the 140+ if was tuned up "AS BEST AS YOU CAN GET" along this subject- how hard would it be to put in a final ratio into the gear box in 1.4 from 1.6/2.0?and would i have to declare to insurer about the fact that the gearbox has bin fideld?ofcorse about the turbo!

Yes the gearboxes are the same across the age range for that particular model (except on the derv which did have a final drive change part way through it's life)... with the newer gearboxes will be a better choice as citroen will have probably made a few smallish changes through out the production of the saxo
EDIT: and now i've read your question properly...
The saxo 1.0 and 1.1 have the same box.
the Furio and Derv have the same box
The VTS has the same box as a 1.1 but with a different final drive
and the VTR is the same as the furio and derv but with a different final drive (i think thats right for the VTR box)

And it's best to discuss a modification like the gearbox with your insurance company before hand... i doubt they would take the gearbox to pieces in the event of a claim though.

Vtr box will give you a higher top speed and slower acceleration

yeah, after getting my saxp translator to decipher that in I can tell you...
If the 1.1 box and the VTS box have the same ratios barring the final drive then I suspect it would be relatively easy to change the final drive. I'm out of league when it comes to this really. you would be better off hunting for a VTR box. Do a search... I've posted the ratios for each box plenty of times.

Were you execting anything different?!?! Dealership prices are extreme..too extreme. You can get gaurantee at certain garages that arent dealership for probably half that!

haynes wont tell you a gearbox either, if you cant understand the haynes manual you shouldnt be aloud to touch your car as you wont have the ability to understand simple things like why torque settngs are important and the reason things are present e.g. the standard airbox or breathers etc.

i said shouldnt be allowed (notice the wrong word use as well) as if you dont understand the basics you risk doing more bad than good. And sadly the real world is full of people who think they can do things when they cant (who would really do something without knowing exactly what they are doing).
Max power is the worst place to start for ideas, as its like a bad habbit.
Also simple use of english wouldnt go a miss instead of text speak.
you what is electric computers hardware and software? can you get non electric computers??
I did say something usefull, get a haynes, understand it, and it doesnt have the gearbox stuff in.
hmmm.
