Key fob problem
Hi guy's
Just wondered if anyone can help..?
My key fob has stopped working after 9 years of use so I changed the battery thinking it had just gone flat.
However, after replacing the battery it still doesn't seem to work? Any ideas gratefully received... thanks :o)

Mine had slowly became intermiterent, replaced the battery, then was sweet, and now it doesnt work unless you flick it then it will works sometimes..
Have you checked that the mirco switches on the circuit board are functioning ok and clicking when you press then?
Otherwise may be a case of getting a new one coded to the car..

I thought it was a wind up too, but it is actually in my Saxo owners manual (it may be press the lock button twice, I can't remember, but I tried both combinations)
Anyway, for the sake of going to a garage to fix it, I'd rather keep my money and unlock using the manual key haha

When I bought my car they key fob didnt work so I thought I may as well spend the £3 for a battery and check it and it worked I tried both combinations too.

Mine worked when I got the car, then slowly died. So I replaced the battery, tried both the cobinations (and even ended up mucking about pressing buttons in random combinations), didn't work...
Took the fob apart again, checked all the connections and buttons etc (no reason why they should be faulty, as all I had done was replaced the battery after the fob was working), and all were fine surprise surprise... still the fob ceases to work, so manual key it is for me. Haha.

Lol, sounds a tad similar to my problem mate..ill prob sit there and pray to god and hope it works..
The board looks good, i blew it and everything, might try both connections at work and blame that for making me late back lol.
We should just use manual keys anyway..MUCH cooler!

Going back to this though..the combos used after?!
How will you know if it works as your pressing unlocked and it will be unlocked..spose just locking it again!

Its not about the capacity..its about my fob deciding not to work...you should know unlocking with key is a skill

I had to mess about after changing my battery for a while, following some guide on here, it eventually worked and almost a year later it's still sweet enough.

I just looked on my dads autodata and for mk2 it says to resync the remote to the car after replacing a battery
1. Unlock the vehicle using the Key.
2. Press the LOCK button 2 times within 20 seconds of unlocking the vehicle
and bobs your uncle
its worked for me but my lock button is screwed on the actual remote (microswitch) my dad put a new microswitch on it works for bout a week and then screws up again its the actual remote now

Replacing broken key fob
My experience may help those who purchase a new key fob shell when the old one's buttons collapse (e-bay has loads). I ordered a new fob shell for my Saxo and swapped the small printed circuit board and battery housing over to the new empty fob. At first the buttons didn't work. Then I found that one of the two contacts inside which connect battery to circuit board was bent down and not making contact. Bent it up slightly and clipped two halves of fob back together and buttons now worked. Unlike my old fob the new one had a blank blade which I had cut locally using the spare key as a template (cost me £2 because guy wasn't sure how accurate his cutting was). When I tried it in the door lock it wouldn't turn, but an inspection showed a couple of slight variations from the original key and a little adjustment using a small file did the trick and it worked in the door locks and iginition lock.
Next problem - I turned on the ignition and the key symbol on the dash was flashing and the engine turned but wouldn't fire up. Then I remembered that if you ever remove the battery from the fob, you have to re-set the fob to your ignition. I followed the handbook method - unlock door with key (not the fob button) and then press larger (lock) button twice. I tried a couple of times with no success. The third time I put the keyfob in the ignition and pressed the large button twice. Bingo! the key warning light went out and the engine started ok. So, if the unlock/lock twice method doesn't work for you - try pressing the lock button with the fobkey in the ignition.
