Default Info/Help Crank diagnostic

Hey guys,

I just wanted to ask for a bit of knowledge, about a month ago my furio EML came on, it reported faulty crank (something), they replaced the crank sensor. The EML came on again yesterday (car is driving normally as far as i can tell) I just wondered if someone could fill me in on how much this (crank) part is going to cost me to replace if it proves to be the problem again and possibly some info on what it does?

Cheers for any help.

does it struggle to start when warm?

the crank sensor senses the position of TDC and also is used as a pick up for the rev counter.

there are normally tolerance readings for a specific crank sensor. not to sure the tolerance of the resistance for the saxo one is. but if you have a milti meter you can test it to see if that is what is at fault.

just remember a diagnostic machine is only a start point of the diagnostics it only gives you a rough starting point. it may not actually be the sensor, it maybe the wiring.

It doesnt struggle when warm. It came on at the beginning of a three hour journey yesterday and stayed on the whole way home. I'm also assuming when the garage previously replaced the sensor that as it was this part that needed replacing it has therefore been broken for a month and driven fine on it.....?

cheers for your reply

After they fitted the new crank sensor did they clear the fault codes on the ecu?
