Default vibrations and oil temp

hi guys,
picked my new toy up today (106 gti) and have a few problems, so im hoping somebody on here can tell me whats wrong.

1) oil temp gauge, the needle jumps around like its on drugs, why?
2) at 70 plus, the whole car vibrates, anyone know what can be causing this?
3) the temp needle is near the bottom (between quarter and below), blows hot and cold air as normal but when stood in traffic for longer than 10-15 mins it begins to rise . again, anyone know why?

it passed its mot in nov 2011 and not been driven since so it cant be bushes, top strut bearings etc etc etc.

cheers

3) could be thermostat, or the fan switch? Does the fan kick in?
