oil leak :S
i got my 51 saxo vts on ramp other day and my alternator is coverd in oil, and so is block i tried cleaning it up as best i could and checked it back out other day. the crease in head is full of oil wer gasket is just below manifold, but then in some places around manifold its wet and then were ur cams are its about 1 inch of spacer as i say to the rocker and that is full of silicone stuff that doesnt look the best and oil is definately leaking ther. just wondering wether their should be a gasket or if i can get a gasket for that piece as i dont think my head is leaking. its not the rocker cover its the join below my mate sphase 1 has exactly same problem.
any help is appreciated thnx billy.

are you sure its coming from the join? mine had an oil leak and it turned out to be the cap wasnt on properly! you litreally had to tighten it on then release it slightly for it to work correctly.
ive only had the car about 2 weeks and one thing ive learnt is that its usually the simple stuff

tell me about simple stuff lol, iv had nothing but simple stuff go wrong and iv done the big jobs instead before trying the simple things lol, definatley is because the silicone isnt drie, its cheap nasty stuff. its tricky to tell tho if both my head and thats leaking because obviously the manifold heat is drying out trail of oil from ther but i looked while it was cold at work other day and its running down ther so im just hoping to reseal it, so i want to try this before stripping down to head and fukcing bout with that save me some money

Same... Best I could figure it's where the plastic trim fixing goes through has lifted the paint then the rust has set in.

Yeah definately the ladders I'd say. My 02 vts has exactly the same problem. I'm trying to find time to do it, so in the meantime I just check the oil daily, have also fabricated a sheet to stop it dripping on the altenator.
