Default Catalytic converters

The cat has gone on my saxo 1.1 02 reg.

What sort of price should I be paying for a replacement?

Iv'e heard stories of the "cheaper" ones failing emissions and triggering engine warning light.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks.

I paid £50 for mine delivered. Mine is a vtr one though so i'm not sure if price varies from model to model.

is your CAT underneath the car? or in the manifold.

Its the manifold type. Have you had any warning light problems?

i didn't, as i wont with only having 1 lambda sensor.

pretty easy job so id try it yourself.

i believe its this part you need. clicky.

if its the correct one which i'm 99% sure it is, id buy a 1.1 exhaust fitting kit as most will have seized on and probably be scrap when you take it off. id also buy a wire ring gasket as the one on might be corroded.

Many thanks.

Yes, I've got the old one off. Surprisingly, the nuts came out easy. The only minor snag so far was that when I tried to unscrew the sensor it came of with the exhaust thread still on it. Managed to get it off in the vice. So far, so good.

Haha it must of been completely rotten then.

just make sure its sealed correctly so the exhaust doesn't blow.

Got the part on.

Seems like a small blow coming from around the manifold but having trouble pinpointing it.

I didn't change the gasket as its a metal one.

erm little too late seeing as you have already changed it but errr. did you actually put the car on an emision tester? or did you have it plugged in when the light came on? the second lambda sesnor will flag up a cat ageing when it's working at 95% efficency so it may still have passed emissions and were no need to replace. don't take the diagnostic machine readings as a gosple

The light hasn't come on.

There is only one sensor, post cat.

The cat was replaced because it was corroded and snapped just before the first join.
