Default saxo vts help?

asked a mate of mines to put the battery in my car when he was giving me a hand with the car and put the terminals on the wrong way until i realised what he was doing and took it off. now the car wont bring up any lights at all on the dash. checked all the fuses and not one of them is blown. was thinking the ecu could be wrecked but none of lights work at all. had a mechanic out there to have a look and he doesnt have a clue? any ideas

Sure its not damaged the battery, also check inline fuses and relays, the ecu's are fused against idiots, you know there are 2 fuse boxes...

tried another battery on it and still no joy. checked fuses in both fuse boxes under the bonnet. where are the rest of the relays for everything else. is there a chance it could have melted any wires?

I’ve not looked into the electrics behind the dash but have you checked the lamps? Could be due to their size there is an inline resistor installed to drop the voltage so the filament doesn’t over heat. With the battery installed the wrong way the lamp would take the full 12volts.

EDIT:

Fuses SHOULD be install in the positive line so they can act as protection.
