Default Saxo keeps cutting out

So i bought a little saxo 1.6 8v today thinking it was the headgasket, the car was smoking and i was told it was over overheating so jumped the gun and went and bought a head gasket and thought i may as well chaqnge the timing belt and water pump, after getting it home i drove it, it wasnt overheating or anything it was just loosing all power and the revs dropped regardless of rpm or speed or gear, im not convinced it is the head gasket, could be a fueling problem, can any body help??

also just drained all the coolant out and its a dirty orange rusty colour, and im not sure as the water was even been fed to the engine so again could this be water pump failure??

p.s this is pretty urgent (Y)

any help would be great!!!!

so its not likely to be the HG , it chucked out loads of white smoke and its now worrying me that it could be the piston rings :/ ill flush the coolant sytem and give it a good check and see what the crack is

Can you smell petrol in the coolant or are there traces of oil in it?

Ok so flushed the cooling out and did a compression test which it's fine! But it's running fine! Not overheating but then with no pattern it just stutters and cuts out!
