Default Decent brake set up for my car

Whats a decent brake setup for my car seen on here 406 , 307 gti etc etc

But what one will be best for me?

Iv got a 1.1 106 with VTR engine and the 1.1 break are crap really

I plan to get it cammed in the near future and probably more after that.

The wheels im on are team dynamic pro race 15" i know that there enough clearance for some decent size discs

So any thoughts please and a rough cost (not looking for the cheapest but also not ridiculous)

Also how much effort is it to disc up the backs just looks nicer imo

vtr, vts gti calipers with decent pads, discs and brake fluid.

Calipers expect about £20-30, pads and discs id be paying about £100 for something decent like mintex pads and brembo discs. Motul brake fluid £10 upwards.

For the rear, easiest to just change the whole axle.

266 i went for and stops my VTS pretty well! pedal travel isnt as bad as people made out imo.

My set up is

OE Mintex disk/pads
Goodridge braided hoses on all 4 corners
AP brake fluid
standard master cylinder

I had this debate with Ross about a month ago lol, "unsprung weight" and all that jazz.

Down to personal pref etc i know

Imo there is no need for 266 brakes on a road going saxo/106. The 247 bosch calipers are good enough. If people renewed their brake fluid, they would find that the brakes are not so spongy...

Ill have to have a look at the price difference ...

how would the 247 fill behind the wheel in comparison to 266 just thinking bigger discs will look nicer lol

Yeah they are - a mate has the 406 Brembo setup on his GTi and they do squeak a fair bit. Apparently braking with them is a bit like hitting a wall though haha.

To the OP - you'll probably get away with 247's from a GTi with master cylinder (and braided lines for better feel) as that's probably the most cost-effective way of doing things unless you can find a cheap set of 266's... as long as the car's not doing any hard track work or anything I can't see there being a problem with the GTi stoppers

Down to personal preference

Some people like the long pedal travel but others don't.

not a massive fan of it to be honest ,too much atm with the 1.1 brakes and i only bled them a few months ago...

So the only options in master cylinders are off a GTI/VTS?

Used calipers and carriers

New Brembo discs

New Mintex Pads

These Discs

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330568095970

These calipers - come with carriers - iv ordered them

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271095596513

This master cylinder - also ordered 23mm 4 port one

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181069526809

And that completes a 266mm brake setup i believe ...

Could someone please tell me if the pads and discs are decent or shite

Ill see how these cope at first, but i do want some that you just touch the brake pedal it feels rock hard and stops you like there not working hard at all , like BMW brakes feel.
