mate your clutch disc is probable eaten out ,if not ,clutch arm lost grip of the cable ,it is on the left side under the hood next to battery ,try to get someone to push the clutch and you watch it move if it moves more than it grips than the clutch disc is gone if not ,than you can get tightening or changing a cable .cheers

@HD7 I am from Serbia so my english is not on the top level sorry. I said it's easyest to look under the hood to see if the cable is slipping ,cause some models have self ajusting cable and some not ,if it's slipping cable arm *puling thing* is moving more than clutch is acctualy ,but if the clutch is still the factory one 99% it will be eaten clutch pads ,witch i do not suggest to be refurbished i had a bad experience with that 4 months after i did that piece of my clutch spring broke and got between clutch and engine and it couldnt get into gear .And if you are changing your stock clutch i suspect a 1.1 has a 180mm clutch go for the 8 spring one not a regular 6 spring ,springs are a bit wider and can last much longer .cheers and sorry for my bad english .

Mines a vtr and thanks, I see what you mean now. So if the arm moves more than the cable the clutch is worn?

No mate when you see that arm moves and pressure plate doesn't grip that means that he clutch is worn, and if the arm is moving and clutch doesn't react that means that the cable is gone but that can allso mean that clutch is compleatly dead whitch could be detected from that nasty smell allso, but slipping cable is easy to see really the damn thing is so long there are milion and one spot that can break, slipping cable can be tighten easy you just need a lift cause you just can't do it from under the hood ,and for the spring part that was meant for a mate with a problem i see he has a desire cheers
