VTR exhaust manifold
Hi, I'm new here, have just bought a 2001 VTR, it has a blowing exhaust, I have traced this to a cracked manifold. I have removed the manifold and am trying to get the sensor out of it, what's the best way to do this, I have soaked it in plusgas and will give it a go tomorrow.
Thanks for any info

Scrap yard any 8v mk2 manifold will fit. You will prob's need a lot of heat to remove the lambda sensor.

Thanks for the quick reply,
I will let it soak and give it some heat then, what sort of money should I pay for a manifold.

Hey no problem dude
Manifolds should be two a penny at scrapyards. Probably pay under a tenner for one.

I'm not sure where you are based, but I paid £2 for a Lambda at PickAPart Breakers in Erith, beauty of it is, the price list is on their website, so you know how much your going to pay before you go inside!
Oh, and welcome!

There's a MK2 1,1 manifold with lambda sensor on ebay, it says it's compatible with the VTR, is this correct.
It looks exactly the same as mine.

I have asked the guy to measure the inlet holes and distance across the inlet brackets and they are the same as the one I have.
The heat shield holes look the same as well.
I tried to get the old sensor out of mine, but no joy by the way

Well, I spoke to my local main dealer and he said it will fit, same part no and all that, so I have bought the one off ebay for £17 and it hs it's lambda too.
Some breakers are a joke though, one bloke wanted £50 for a bare manifold plus P+P.
Same breaker was offering a complete engine for £150

The senor iirc is a size 22mm, it will be tight! Just dont strip it or you will have to buy a new one.

Well it arrived today and looks like it has a fairly new sensor too, what's your thoughts on using the old steel engine gasket, any use or should I buy a new one ?

Never use any second hand/ used gaskets just no need and they never seal correctly.
