Metal clunking noise from rear
I've got a very loud metal like clunking noise coming from the rear of my vtr when going over speedbumps/potholes. Sounds like two spanners being hit together, recently refurbed back axle bearings as there was a bit of play when moved. checked antirollbar end plates and still tight. Could this pinging noise come from a goosed shock absorber? Any help would be fantastic as i'm running out of ideas and don't want to replacing the whole of the back end to find out it was something simple.
Cheers in advance!

That noise is caused by anti roll bar make sure it rite in the splines both sides and grease the bolt on each side that's holding the plates on, did you lower it if so was it done the notches way by any chance ??

Lowered it the proper taking the torsion bar out. had the anti roll bar out yesterday everything seemed fine and the clunking even stopped for a few hours then started again.

Bit off an update here, tightened up the 13mm bolt which was loose and the pinging went away, now iv'e got a louder pinging noise which sounds like my exhaust hitting the floor when going on and off kerbs or round sharp corners. the exhaust is'nt hanging down at all and theres loads of room between it and the road. Could this be the same problem again as it is alot louder and quite alot more embarrasing?
Cheers

I asked IM axles about that.
They said to me its because the bars arnt set dead on so they twist and cause it plates to loosen and ping

What Joe says. Locktite does the trick indeed.
Also, if you have a new/lowered axle. After driving for a while (a week or something) tighten everything up and it should be fine.
