Black car, Swirls, Argh!

Ok guys needing a bit of help here. Generally a car cleaning session of mine includes a bucket of water and a sponge. Seeing how some of the cars have come up on here I'm looking to get a few products to start whoring all over my car.

But as it stands I'm not really sure on what to get, as quite a few bits and bobs have been mentioned and ideally would like to get what's best instead of forking out, knowing I can get better.

Looking for the full works; Shampoo, Clay, Wax, Polish, any mitts or chamois I may need (plus anything I may/probably have missed). Would be extremely greatful if anyone could write me out a pretty detailed list on what to use, when and how. As in 'Wash car with Megs blah, and dry with blah towel'. Will use the rep as blackmail for info too

Plus as you can see from this picture my car is pretty much covered in swirls:



So any other help on how to get rid of these, or as much as I can would be ideal.

That's pretty much what I do already, that's why I'm asking for a detailed guide with what to use etc.

rinse with warm water to remove dirt

use turtle wax shampoo to wash car

rinse with warm water again

chamois

use a decent wax e.g turtle wax or meguirs(spell)

I'm looking to dry, clay, polish and wax my car as well..and remove the swirls somehow. (Awaits PB's recommendations : )

Rinse,
Turtle wax shampoo,
Rinse,
Chamois,
Zymol wax cleaner and Polish (all in one, smells like coconut),
Slightly damp cloth to buff off with (will take a while),
Simoniz trim wax and tyre shine!

blacks a bar steward of a colour but looks ace when you get it right!

- Usual wash and dry
- Clay whole car with the detailer spray lube you get with it.
- Wash and dry again.
- T-Cut any bigger marks if you havent already
- Give her a really good polish, trying to get rid of swirls here as much as possible, iv found 'Auto Glym Super Resin Polish'to be the best so far but may be something better for black not too sure.
- Maybe get the whole Megs 3 step in here as this will clean, feed renovate your paintwork apparently, not used it myself but only heard good things!
- Get a good Carnauba Wax, ive just used 'Turtle Wax Platinum Precision Wax' and found it good.
- Finally Seal Paint with a good sealent, iv heard good things of the 'Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection' but iv just used 'Turtle Wax Gloss Guard' and it was quality!

- Get some alloy cleaner AND some sealent aswell. the sealent will keep them cleaner alot longer! protects from brake dust and shite too
- Back to Black Polish on your trim and tyres too!

Ask PB for more specific product wise

go to polished bliss and read the guides they have on there it tells u everything u need along with everythin u have to do in what order!!!!

and it helps specify what products for what paint u have....i think saxos are a flat black colour? and therefore u need differrent products to what my car does as its a different type of black

to get swirl marks out the best way todo it is buy a pc ploisher and correct polishes ask polished bliss for more detailed help

problem is with a PC you need about £150 spare and need to change over the plug type for a UK one and apparently its not as easy as buying a travel adaptor either!

Id say try some of that blackfire stuff PB does with an eletronic buffer from argos which is about £20. Some1 the other day showed results whilst using 1 and it looked ace!

Would you seal the paint first and then polish and wax?

you pay for what you get

them polishers for 20 arent really any good

unless u get a heavy duty polisher and cut it right the way back and then start sealing it wont permanently get rid of the swirl marks anyway will it?

also if you get a heavy duty polish theres more chance of burning through the paint unless been trained

Here's what I would do if I were you...

Wash (ideally every week)

Poorboy's Slick n Suds shampoo
Meguiars Lambswool mitt (for bodywork only)
Meguiars Microfinbre mitt (for wheels/arches only)
Poorboys Waffle Weave towel (for drying off)

...also buy two new buckets and use the two bucket method in future.

Clean (once every six months)

Meguiars Quik Clay (comes with clay bar and lubricant, full usage guide on the website)

Polish (every six months, after claying)

Menzerna Intensive Polish via the white side of a German Applicator (to remove as many swirls and scratches as possible by hand)

then...

Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish via the white side of another German Pad (to hide any remaining swirls and massively enhance the gloss)

Protect (apply fresh coat every 4-6 weeks after a wash)

Blackfire Wet Diamond (pure sealant, looks great, long lasting protection)

Job done.
