Default Bit of help needed

Sorry don't own a saxo but have a 205 with a vtr engine and have some questions, this seems the best place to ask,

The 205 is fitted with a vtr engine on twin 40's and a 4 branch it seems to be running ok but the car also came with a vts 16v engine and a chipped ecu, given the choice what would you run?
8v with 40s, 4 branch and add a cam, what bhp could I expect?
16v with chipped ecu, 4 branch
16v on 40's, 4 branch, is there a twin carb manifold available?

The car is purely a toy and for a bit of autocross and hillclimbs

Cheers

You've got a lot of options there. The 16v will ultimately give you more power.

Remember your aftermarket 8v manifold won't fit the 16v engine so discount that if that was an idea you had.

So a "chipped" ecu sounds a bit suspect too I'm afraid - got any more info on that?

From a reliability perspective a 16v vts engine running standard saxo management would be best. Carbs can be tricky to set up and keep balanced.

16v comes with a 4 branch as well, should be picking up the engine tomorrow, will check ecu, the engine use to run in a 106 and it was quick,
Are bike carbs a viable option on the 16v? Less hassle once set up and the 40's set up should cover the costs

I really wouldn't use bike carbs. It's been done of course but they're unpleasant to work with and performance gains are minimal. You're much better off with ITB's (and you can use your megasquirt for that of course )
