Default 16v 106 flat arch.

Hi all,

here is my newest purchase.

Gti powered little flat arch.

Spec
1.1 impedance chassis, rust free fully under sealed.
gti lump
gti gearbox
gti front brakes
gti shafts/running gear
refurbished gti disc'd beam
4 branch cheepo manifold.
brand new centre pipe and underfloor cat
piper backbox
sparco bucket seats
gti door cards
jp4 cam covers
shite air filter
partially stripped out
rear spare wheel cage removed
starmag alloys.

Service history

engine/box on 70k
top end rebuild last year
head gasket replaced
new clutch
new rad
new belt
new fluids

Exterior

haze all over the paintwork.
few age related marks here and there.
rear arches have been scrubbing hence the chipped paint on the rear arch

The entire lot, engine box shafts brakes beam came off the same gti which was a straight swap over. minus the spliced loom.

recently bought a new lambda sensor (correct one)
fitted a new standard cat exhuast system.
fitted new rear discs and pads

on order
2 x new drive shafts
new gearbox seals
gearbox oil
front discs/pads.

The alloys imo look shite but they weigh next to nothing. very very light compared to s wheels so i will be keeping these.

as soon as ive replaced the shafts this will be going in for 4 brand new tires.

Plans
get it on the road!
more strippage/wieght saving
possibly looking into having it on bike carbs with cams and a remap...your thoughts??
or maybe throttle bodies. not going turbo on this one though.
get it polished
repair the sunroof as its leaking
possible cage
get a standard airbox for it for now.
new manifold ideally btb system
battery/ecu covers.
also looking into the 247mm hispec 4pot callipers for this as they will fit under the mags not sure if there still available though.
coilovers are on the list to!

thats all for now.

update.

so i had some bits come..

2 new shafts
2 seals
brembo 247mm discs
mintex 1144's pads

realised there wasnt one of these on my car????

so i got one off qrty off of here. thanks again mate.

fitted.

shafts fitted

and discs/pads fitted.

quick bay shot.

so during replacing shafts, i removed gearbox drain plug and.....NO OIL! I thought "shit the box has gone its not the shaft" however i decided to carry on, refilled it with gear oil, then tried to refit the front wheels, and they hit the calipers

removed the anti vibration springs and they turn free now. but i have ordered some bigger spacers for the front. I feckin hate these wheels.

BUT it drives a lot better now, brakes are so much better than before and the catching/knocking has disappeared.

still need to do.

get a standard airbox
new 4-1 manifold
rallye steels powder coated anthracite.
battery cover
ecu cover
new starter motor

good engine bay tidy and exterior detail.

Thats all for now.

That vts looked immaculate! Such a shame you had to get rid. Loving where this is going though, judging from your previous cars this is only going to get better . how do you find the fixed buckets daily?

It was immaculate yea the buckets aint to bad. There pretty comfy and hold you well when doing spirited driving! Harnesses are a pain though found that out with my vts. Thats why I have stuck to standard belts.

I hope so there's some biggish plans for it. Cams and bodies would be nice :-P

yea i'm glad to be back on the French scene. thanks for the offer mate but i managed to go shopping today and picked up a new starter and a used airbox.

having a bit of trouble with the car atm, took it for a good drive around today and its an absolute brute to get into 1st gear.

had a look at linkages and there after market ones. don't know if i can adjust them though. other than that its running great.
