Default Interior roof light change prob leak....

Hi

After getting the new bulb for change in the roof light it wouldnt work. Checked sockect which proved bit rusty. Cleaned connections no change. Cleaned again and erosion weakened metal and 1 of 4 connection pins that also hold bulb snapped off.

Drive yest proved more info as interior roof light casing filled with rainwater n dripped.

So took out cleaned wiring connection loom n dried plus dried inside roof cavity as best I could without removing roof panel. Looked but no breaks in seal of windscreen sunroom or aerial as factory fitted items so no eejit boy racer been toying around. But no signs of rubber corroding too. So for now packed roof with kitchen towel n left fitting n loom out. See if it soaks again as plenty of heavy downpours today. But may have to settle with packibg with microfibre cloth for forseeable.

On a good note got replacement light fitting inc bulb and socket for 3quid plus 3 postage.

Hoping to fix little Dorothy up a little step at a time. Complete beginner disabled too so not easy reaching parts.

Thx for adv input n listening guys.

Hi, saxos have a comman fault of the sunroof leaking, the drainage channels in the sunroof were the water runs down get blocked and overfills tbe sunroof sill and leaks in, i cleaned my drain channels the other week, didnt take to long and was easy. I removed the roof lining and you can see the rubber pipes, i then disconnexted them from the fitmet tubes and pulled the rubber drain pipe up out of the car and cleaned then out with a rod as they were blocked. Hope that helps you mate.
