Default 2003 Icey Grey VTS - Supercharged donor car purchased!

Hi all,

I collected this lovely VTS last week, which belonged to Harry, and before that Jamie, this is my 5th Saxo in the space of ten years, I wasn't going to buy another Saxo, but fancied a wee toy, I did previously own an Icelandic Grey VTR owned from new up to 80k miles, and always had a soft spot for it, this came up for sale at the right price and appeared to be very cared for!

The current spec is as follows...

Engine
- 4-2-1 Raceland stainless steel manifold
- 2" Saxsport race exhaust
- Carbon BMC induction kit

Chassis
- Spax 40mm PSX suspension kit
- 266mm brake set up with Mintex discs and pads
- Exact braided lines
- AP racing 5.1 fluid
- Compbrake quick shift
- Powerflex exhaust mounts

Wheels and Tyres
- White Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 15" alloys
- Front Toyo T1R 195/50/r15
- Rear Yokohama Parada Spec 2 195/50/r15

Other
- Polished cam covers
- Custom coil pack cover badge
- Carbon door pillars
- Carbon wing mirror covers
- Carbon ECU cover
- Bee sting aerial

I have already a good few plans for the car, however Im on a budget, so this may change as time goes on,

First things first is to sort out the suspension, I want to start getting involved with track days again, so the suspension needs to be in tip top condition, the rear axle bearings have quite a bit of play in them, so that will need to be addressed asap! either by fitting a refurbed axle or replacing the bearings myself, I will also raise the ride height due to the poor condition of the roads close to where I live, so Faulkner 250mm/ 155lbs springs will replace the spax, along possibly with Bilstein B8's all round, I will also fit a lower front strut brace as this noticeably sharpened the front end on my previous Saxo's

Performance wise I want to do a supercharger conversion, but this of course comes down to up much I can pick parts up for, in meantime I may fit cams and remap the engine,

I detail cars professionally, so this will be kept spotlessly clean as usual, and a thorough machine polish is required very soon to remove all the various swirl marks and random scratches in the clearcoat

Here is a few pic's of car sitting outside its new home...

Amazing how much cars have grown in recent years!

And a couple a local spirited drive ( I have removed the wind deflectors as I wasn't keen on them)

and a few of two of my previous Saxo's...

This is eventually what YM03 will end up looking like

Charged VTR...

Richard

Looks good the BMC & oil pipes ruin the bay though.

What happened to the Mint looking Simota?

I still have the Simota, I have had this BMC for nine years and prefer the look of it tbh, what I noticed with the Simota is that it was fitted the wrong way round, even though the logo looked right, A longer breather pipe is needed so i can hide it out of view.

why do they ruin the bay? because you didn't fit them?

Exhaust needs to go! other half was pulled by traffics tonight and told it is way to loud for the public road, wasn't too keen on the sound of the Saxsport anyway, so is a good excuse to change it now.

any suggestions for a replacement? I much prefer a deep burble.

Having looked around I think it will be a Scorpian system, had one on my Icey VTR and always liked the deep tone, the Saxsport has started blowing at the join to the manifold so is currently extra noisy!! lol

Exclamation

Been a while since I last posted an update, the VTS has been sat in garage motionless for the past year as I have been too busy to do much with it,

however it is time to pull my finger out and get the car track ready, so first to arrive thanks to Campdavid

Rear axle fitted with 22mm torion bars, 25mm arb, and grp n billies

Front struts fitted with 200lb/in Faulkner springs, grp n billies, and top mounts,
also not pictured a lower strut brace.

Should hopefully have everything fitted by next weekend, then onwards with a substantial power increase!

Whilst the car has been stored indoors I did however make a little start rectifying the paintwork!

In fairness I do this fulltime, and have done for a number of years now, takes several hundred hours to start getting really good results, hoping to find the time to finish the rest of the car off soon

Wee highlight of what I do day to day.

It was always my intention to supercharge this car, it was just a case of collecting the parts, and luckily last week I stumbled upon this!

Now the body kit is terrible, however under the bonnet it has...

Fully rebuilt engine
Wossner low comp pistons
one year old C30 74 Rotrex S/charger
490cc injectors (unknown brand)
GMC rad / intercooler
Mocal oil coolers,
KMS standalone management
Helix clutch
Wilwood 4 pots

So the entire engine + loom will be removed and fitted to my Icey VTS, along with the 4 pots, I have a 4 branch raceland manifold which will be swapped over also, as this for some reason is using a standard manifold

I need to source a new S/C belt also once I find out which length this needs to get good tension, the one currently fitted appears to have lost a couple of ribs and is slipping!

Despite this the car drove very well from Exeter to Motherwell, rather kumpy below 3000 rpm, so I will need to get that checked out once the engine has been swapped over.

Plenty of lovely bits on that car. Didn't think Jamie's old car could get much better but this conversion might just put the icing on the cake.

I'm sure the cleaning and condition of the car will be kept up to Jamie's anal standards aswell.

Aye the car is now in my unit so I will be going through it with a fine toothed comb and make sure it is flawless condition wise! I'll need to get hold of some new pipework so the engine bay looks the part also,

I'm wondering about the bodykit, I'll advertise the body kit and see if there is any interest.
