Default Could it be driveshaft? Or something else?

Had wheel bearing replaced and car now creaks when slowing/speeding up. There is also a movement-related catching-type sound - slow down and the sound slows down, speed up and the sound gets faster. Dab the brakes very lightly and the sound disappears.
Mechanic who fitted bearing was head scratching so fitted a different make bearing thinking it was faulty but the car still makes the noise. He readjusted the caliper with me pressing the brake pedal and that made it better but didn't totally stop it. Strut is tight and top mount bearings OK.
Because a dab of the brakes gets rid of the sound I thought it may be discs/pads so, as they were getting done, I replaced both. Sound is slightly worse if anything now. Any ideas please?
