Default Drive Shaft Querie...

Hi,

Has anyone had any problems with drive shafts popping out?

I have two mates with saxo's, both vtr's like mine... One mate has a turbo (which im thinking about). The make with a turbo has never had a drive shaft problem, but the other mate's drive shaft keeps popping out under power?

Why does the lower power saxo keep popping its drive shafts and the 230bhp turbo vtr not?

Dave

i have not worked on a saxo gearbox yet but most gearboxes driveshafts have a little retaining clip on the end a bit like a cir-clip to help hold it in, but i would sya something is seriously wring for it to pop out all the time, is it just the one side? when turning? has it ever ben in a crash before? maybe somethign is knocked out of place. anyway see how many others have had this problm but i dont think its a common one

The clip is still on the drive shaft. Never crashed. I believe its when i accelerates hard when going slow round corners.

Thats would suggest that one of the following..... the hub nut is incorrectly tightened, the lower arm is bolloxed, the lower arm ball joint is too free in moving or the CV has completely collapsed allowing the shaft to fully retract into the housing (because they are springy).... I've never seen a circlip holding a shaft in?.... only thing I can think here is the dust cap on the end of the right hand shaft that sits against the diff.... either way the suspension strut is being allowed to move outwards or the shaft is retracting....

Agreed !!!

Driveshafts just push in and pull out on saxos apart from drivers side. No circlip though.

When you mean it keeps popping out? Do you mean its popped out the gearbox or hub? or the joints popped apart? And when you mean "keeps popping out" have you not noticed anything unusual when fixing it? It surely hasnt popped out completly? lol
