A Cat exhaust or normal exhaust? - Saxperience

Hi all

Im bit confused about wot exhaust i should get for my saxo!!! Do i need a cat backbox or can i geta normal one?? Peco or Magnex??? my mates says normal fine but i heard this bloke say it might fail the mot cos the emissions?? any help will be cool. its a 52 plate

you car is a 52 plate therefore it should have the cat in the manifold meaning that the only way to remove the cat is to get a new maifold.

There for you cna get an exhaust you like whether it be a back box or a system and you will still have the cat in place meaning your emmissions will be fine.

As for the choice between Peco or magnex. Magnex every time or just about any other exhuast in the world over the peco even the standard one

Yeah stay away from peco. Scorpion have got a good reputation, although they are the most quiet ones so if thats not what your after then go for something else.

magnex is a sports exhaust that gives you performance but a custom made one is for the sound.

yah, its annoying how everyone seems to be an expert when it comes to cars, the guy who MoT'd mah bro's astra saw my VTR with the K&N 57i kit and said if I put my foot down i'd end up burning the tips of my valves and that they could be shagged within 600 miles, so I was shitting it until I realised it was all over exaggerated....now I just feel like givin the old twat a slap ;F

well that is wrong mate, a custom made exhaust can do exactly what you want it to and that is why they cost more. They can give far better performance than any of the shelf exhaust as they match your requirements. Well worth the extra cash.

i used to have a remus back box, which was quiet. so i tried a custom one and it was loud! luckily i got the tunable one to tune it down. even when i tuned it to the quietest it was still louder then my old remus.
