what clutch do I need?

my friend bought me a VTS clutch
and to our dispair we put all the stuff back under the bonnet.
but when the clutch is engaged it makes a metal on metal screetch
Any ideas?

the clutch pressure plate

if evetything is fine why say you have a problem

no i said I put everything in correctly.
yet its making a noise; therefore a part is incorrect.

is the friction plate on right way

you should have a vts clutch

did the clutch sit on the splines of the gearbox perfect

friction plate = the bronzey colored semi circle shaped thing?

well my friend is a mechanic; he carried out the work.

it's only when you engage the clutch;
he says it could be the release bearing?

he could of got that wrong way round easy mistake todo

or pressure plate is wrong and not sitting on splines

could be release bearing not sat on right

to do all of these jobs, i need to take gearbox out dont I?

Me n mike put it all in fine - certain the plate is the right way round although it didnt have which way it was meant to go round stamped on it. However 95% that is fine, Im sure its the realease bearing, its either badly remanufactured or the wrong one, it didnt have teeth like the old one, wish we had used the old one even tho this one sat fine, its just that over a new or an old part, naturally u would use the new one woudlnt u.. It sounds as tho the release bearing is spinning, hence when u engage the clutch it spins on the plate, metal on metal...

Oh well, heres to 3 or 4 more evenings work taking the box back out and fixing whats wrong, i canny wait...

when you look at the friction plate where the springs are 1 side is thcker then the other and you want the thicker side facing the gearbox

yeah iv done it a few times even forgot to put the release bearing in on 1 car luckly it was only a fiesta so was easy to take out again

either the clutch disk is on wrong way round

or more than likely the release bearing has come out of place, it clips on to the fork in the box
