Default what would cause this?

i was out and about last night pulled off the car park and pulled up at traffic lights, turned my stereo up to the usual level and all seemed good skipped the track and then it was just constant bass as if i had a bass test cd in, so i reset my headunit and it did the same again so when i got home i had a look at my amp nothing seemed wrong but i just took all the cables out and put them all back again and it was sorted, just wondering what would cause this so i can try to do something to stop it happening again.

Cheers Essay

If you pulled all the cables out and put them back in again on your amp... I'm guessing that's the amp for the speakers not the subs? You got more than one amp? One running speakers and one running subs?

did the amp go into protection mode or not??, could be a bad earth or cables, maybe its just the headunit or CD (could be scratched as mine all are thats the good thing about having an ipod can get 1500 songs on without getting scratched
