Engine Flush? What Do You Think Of It? - Saxperience

I was in HalFRAUDS this morning and saw a rack of cans labelled Engine flush, Im skint as hell so didnt get it, but what do everyone think of it and can anyone recommend the best they know off that will give the engine a good flush out?

engine flush is designed to be used after an oil change.

basically you drain all the oil, put the sump plug back in, open the oil cap, pour the engine flush in, wait afew minutes, and drain it just like the oil, then fill the engine with oil again

always a good idea to do it with an oil change, for the sake of £6

i use the wynns ones..

comes in a small tin, is added to the old oil, run for something like 5min and then drained. Fill up with new oil

or you get a flushing oil which is a very thin oil used as chris_mac describeds

basically washed all the shite out of the inside of the engine as its a very thin oil basically

I used the stuff which you pour into the old oil, and then run the engine for 5 mins before changing the oil.

The oil then drains out like water.

I'd recommend it for giving your engine a good clean while doing your oil.

Im gonna do that, worth doing for £6 and it will keep the car running smoother I suppose.

if you want to rebuild your engine soon then follow the steps above, if not then pour the flush into your old oil, run the engine for 15 mins, then drain oil and flush at the same time.

or if you wnat your engine in even better condition, DONT USE ANY

i would just use some cheap oil. drain old oil, fill up with cheap oil, drive for about half an hour, then drain that. then put your good oil in.

On high milage, it can (not saying it will) be a bad thing, as old manky oil tends to seal leaks and flaws, so when you flush that it might start to leak or drink a wee bit of oil.

Not so common on modern engines, but deffo on older ones.

i heard that making sure the engine has been used soon before you drain the old oil gets most the cack out becuase its been disturbed and it will be thinner anyway beacuse it it warmer. (iirc)

when your car is warm your oil is like water anyway. i think they are quite good. we use them at work. it shouldnt make an old engine leak as long as you use the correct oil. ie not to thin
