Driveshaft problem...?
Everytime i turn a sharp left i get a grinding noise??
Poss a wheel bearing or drive shaft; sounds like the wheel rubbing on the arch lining, it made this noise occasionally before i had my car lowered too...
but arch lining has no sign of wear on it, or being loose...

Would go for the wheel bearing as you say grinding noise.
Driveshafts make more of a knock when there fooked.

Nah its like a continous grind noise, perhaps where its under more pressure?!?
How much is a wheel bearing?

could be a CV on the d'shaft if not wheel bearing. Does your steering judder when going over say 40mph if it does then most probably wheels bearing...if it gets really bad it could be diff in your box lol...i hope not, dont want to do another box for you!

What a bummer mate, you think it maybe a result of having it lowered?

Good point, forgot about that.
Check again karl, a lowered car will generally scrub on full lock not necessarily on both sides.. MY R and S both do a tad on full lock.

It did it before lowering.
No there is no difference in steering.
No it did it occasionally before I had a new gearbox.
No it doesnt scrub.
It only does it occasionally, but the other night it was doing it frequently, Nick ill take you out tonight and show you.

Yeah I reckon it must be, because it doesnt knock, its just a grind, no effect on steering, itll still take a bend, just a grinding noise when turning left occasionally.

if its a CV Joint then use this:
Faultfinding and diagnosis
Constant velocity joints are usually reliable and largely trouble-free. The two main failures are wear and partial seizure.
Wear in the outer joint usually shows up as vibration at certain speeds, a bit like the vibration caused by an unbalanced wheel. To determine if the joint is worn, find a big empty car park and drive the car slowly in tight circles, left and right. Worn joints will make a rhythmic clicking or cracking noise. Wear in the inner joints shows up as a "clunk" or "pop" when applying power, or if severe, when lifting off the throttle.
Partial seizure causes a strange "pattering" sensation through the suspension. It is caused by the joint overheating, which in turn is usually caused by the outer joint gaiter having split, allowing the joint to throw out its grease. If caught in time, you can clean the joint carefully, repack with grease and replace the gaiter. Kits which include the grease, gaiter and retaining clips are available from most automotive manufacturers. Some universal gaiters are split lengthwise enabling them to be fitted without having to disassemble the wheel hub and CV joint.

Sorry to be a n00b, but how much is a wheel bearing to have changed?
and how much is a new driveshaft, or will I not need one if its a CV joint?

If its the d'shaft outer boot thats blown you wont have grease left in it etc so prob will grind, but easily replaced. If an inner CV joint they can be C*nts to do and its easier just to get a new driveshaft (about £35) and its the easy side to change x x lol
