contemplating getting a VTS engine transplanted into my VTR in the near future (professionally), just wondering what insurance group it would jump to? roughly? ...blatantly more than a standard VTS(group 14) but how much more???
whats yours @ simo? hope u've declared that turbo

simo' is insured with Liverpool Victoria i believe on an anything goes sort of insurance (i think) whereby they arent too fussed about the mods that you do as long as you declare them... well thats how i've interpreted some of his insurance related posts to people.
As for the insurance of a VTS conversion i think it increases a fair bit and people say that it would probably be cheaper to just sell the VTR and buy a VTS as the cost of the transplant and the additional cost of insurance for the VTS etc

i think its cheaper to declare a mod (vts conversion) than actually buying a vts itself, taking into account the extra money you pay for a vts as well as the increased 7 group insurance premium.

yeah, I've got my VTR nicely modded and almost how I want it looking all I need is a power increase
as for Liverpool victoria, thats whos I was thinking of going with because of their policies, mah dads got a remapped impreza with em

yeah but cost of the engine plus cost of installation by a proffesional does add up to atleast £1500!!! so from a vtr to a vts it wouldnt cost that much more

i think im on the vts conversion, i think im gunna buy a vts engine from a scrapyard, been ringing round today i can get one for 300-400, and then put the engine in myself with my dad so in the end it is only gunna cost a maximum of about 700-800 if i change the pistons and so on.

only problem gettin a vts is all of the hassel of selling your car and going out and finding a good second hand vts. i mean if i sold my car now i would basically be buying an impreza end of story.......

Compared with the hassel of finding a decent vts engine, as well as all the other bits you need such as brakes n god knows what? Then having to fit it, which, if u can do yourself then fair play but i'd not have a clue?
If you're looking for the easiest and more simple way then surley it would be buying a vts?

no that would be a proper stupid fucking thing to do for a number of reasons. Your effectively driving an uninsured car, if you hit someone first off its going to see you in court, second its you personally facing the bills to repair your car and more importantly theirs (hit a nice beemer or a merc and thats going to be a nice bill), third they will probably sue you for damages to them.
Next off your point on " you smash it up good and propper."
Are you hearing yourself? YOUR IN A SAXO. Its hardly the most robust of machines smash it up good and proper and 99 times out of 100 your going to be smashing yourself up good and proper. To smash the front in so badly that the engine would be unidentifiable would require a huge front end impact which would probably end up in the engine moving backwards, moving the bulkhead backwards, moving the dash backwards and guess what> your next in that line.

Liverpool Victoria don't put your premium up for body mods.
With Engine mods the premium will go up if more than 10hp is gained........i think.
Vtr --> vts is more than 10hp

I tried a quote last time and donno if its cause of area or summat but it was more expensive to insure than other companies and there was something saying that you could only get quote if there was no mods!
